* Waves - (Dreams): Definition

* Waves - (Dreams): Definition

Dreams/sub- conscious, this is a factor of my work,
With the symbol/metaphors in this site I am not declaring it biblical, but, do add an interesting stand-point from me as the practicing artist with the psychological aspoects.
from all iwi- ko Ngati Porou ko Ngati Kahununu ko Ngai Tahu nga Iwi Ahau., descend from the oceanic- nomadic tribes. I feel a strong a proud mana for this. surfing is a passion,
i feel the flow water is a imporant aspect of how i have directed my self. either in self defense, philosophy on life,. Basically it becomes way of life. as bruce lee said" be like water".
we are 70% water, my sign is scrpio, which element is water.
look to nature for some answers too.
i feel it a waste of time to be a hippy.

the spectator how ever will probably benifit from these distinctions, as an anchor point

Jimi Bellaney - Natural Landscapes on Vimeo

Jimi Bellaney - Natural Landscapes on Vimeo

This performance at a local space( The none Gallery), was a chance to share with the spectator that space in which other wise I prefer to be alone.
I'd invited friends and family's. and other willing/curious guests.

Isolation is a mundane thing for the artist, necessarily essential, for creative development. Sharing studio space's has, in the past, been a right fucking drag.Id just moved out lately. After finding out that this free creative space which by hearsay is a safe space for creative minds, was in fact a fucking prison.I couldn't turn the volume up, couldn't walk
,to me that's oppression,
well a house filled with, dikes in denial can do that.

This show allowed me to play, be, and choose not to pay attention to them,. or the other. but to flow through my own zone, but inevitably connected as a social, community.
the crowd was there, they could choose to Love like or hate, or worse see nothing.

I also wanted to demonstrate how I work with  the paint. while i want the natural look i am effectually drawing , marking with precision.in a kinda surreal state. Obviously I failed to get that across as my last consultation with my painting lecturer, his only descriptions are, spilt paint, or why aren't you adding you own thing to it. well fuk you man, , of course he paints totally different, re-representational works. mine are re-presentational only to the spectators sub-conscious. he wants images , connections for spectator to easily connect to,
this is the same debate of the anti-minimalist, and the the complications that come with the lack of handouts, and walk through step by step that minimalism chooses to disgard. individuality is important, others, may think,
marketing. lol . true, artist have to eat.but dont be an art wank cause you think its cool , but be a wank cause you are one.

I draw with paint wet on wet. these assumption s that abstractions or formlessness are purely chance is an old people argument, quite conventional, back in the 1910's(lol).Its not just chance, but feeling, and intuition, the things that a life has embedded itself with, love , hate, the things that give birth to experience.

But know that we are different,

geographical /pyschedelic?

while this work is more geographical. there us undeniably psychedelic imprints.
- imprint= that which exist in the mind via experiences (multi sense's created my present perception,allowing the viewer to reflect via abstractions).

researching into shamanism, the role of the painter as the shaman, or the voyageur whom allows
the viewer of such works to reflect.

do i, as a painter , want to claim this title of shaman?
do i, have the ego.Is ego intended?
titles are words which i feel can never be true to ------> ?
neither do i want to compare, but search 4 other painters, for an outsider's viewpoint via any connection the work.(have with the artist or)
i was asked to submit a reseaoning for the paintings im submitting for end of year assessment, asked to look into my community contemporary s, to claim my place with my work in this present environment, IE-n - my environment is different/(altered?) to yours. the later is (a)my broad definition on the subject , relating my life into my work for others to connect to.?(this is the jist of of it.

Contemporary artists a natrurally submerged in what is roughly termed abstraction or ab-expressionist methodology?. what is it that is different to the way in which we today approach a canvas to the earlier masters, ie, Stlj, Pollock, Rothko etc?
are4 they not Human like us, feeling, pain, love, good hate, envy, etc..The human condition what is so capturing about it, the German expressionist concentrated on it long ago. what does it still linger? whats new? how has this changed?
are artist exploring this in different ways, causing what some call a regurgitation?
Fences will always arrive through out history, its proved it omnipresent's, and so we find ways of jumping these fences,

i am like others i feel lost in this voyage of identity, crammed full of history never letting up as time goes on.
